Clinton Pays Off Remaining 2008 Debt

Running a presidential campaign is a lot of work...and a lot of money. In 2008 while running for the democratic presidential nomination Hillary Clinton racked up millions in debt, to herself and some to private institutions, as she suspended her campaign and Barack Obama took over the reigns. CNN is reporting today that Hillary has finally payed off her debt. Unfortunately she had to write off $12.5 million she gave to her committee to fund her campaign because campaign finance laws dictated she do so after failing to meet a deadline. However on New Years Eve Clinton made various installments of about $73,000 to the firm Penn and Schoen making her account current by midnight. It took her four years to pay off the debt. Some last minute  fundraising and such by husband Bill Clinton enabled her to go into the 2013 year with a surplus of about $203,000...a number that will disappear all to quickly should she decide to run for federal office again.
