President Obama’s popularity surges to three-year high

According to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll Obama's approval rating has reached a new three-year high with 60% of respondents saying they have a favorable opinion of Obama. This means he much be reaching across the isle since only 51% say they approved of his inaugural address.

When looked at with more detail, 39% had a strongly favorable opinion of Obama and 21% were "somewhat". When it comes to registered voters only 56% of those asked approved of Obama, while 42% disapproved. Obama’s favorable ratings have climbed by double digits since last year among liberals, racial minorities and people under age 40. Among each group, at least two-thirds now see Obama positively. The Post-ABC poll was conducted Jan. 23 to 27 among a random national sample of 1,022 adults.
