With women now allowed in combat roles, should they be required to sign up for selective service as well?

Reddit user "PITApt" recently posed this question to the community. One of the top comments he received on his post stated:
"As a Marine, I say:
  • Same missions
  • Same fitness test
  • Same bootcamp
  • Same promotion guidelines
  • Same selective service registration
A lot of women are not fit for combat. A lot of men are also not fit for combat. I've met female marines that will kick your ass. Women were already serving in combat rolls and killing people when I was in Iraq back in 2004... so it's fine. There shouldn't be a separate standard for anything, though. THAT is what will cause resentment and fuel arguments about women in general not being fit to fight. True equality: No half measures."
Yesterday Defense Secretary Leon Panetta lifted the ban on women serving in combat positions, opening 200,000 new military posts and raising this important question.

As it stands by law most male U.S. citizens must register with the Selective Service System within 30 days of their 18th birthday. Those names are put on a list that the government would use if there were ever a return to the draft and conscription in the military was deemed necessary for war.
