Texas To Turn Blue?

Democrats nationwide are beginning what could be either a fool's errand or a huge accomplishment that would practically seal the fate of elections for years to come: make Texas a battleground state. The new initiative is headed by former Obama Campaign chief Jeremy Bird and has been dubbed "Battleground Texas."

The primary path forward to accomplish this task is to mobilize the state's growing Latino population, African-American voters, and other democrats that have been underrepresented at the ballot box. Bird commented on the initiative:
“With its diversity and size, Texas should always be a battleground state where local elections are vigorously contested and anyone who wants to be our commander in chief has to compete and show they reflect Texas values. Yet for far too long, the state’s political leaders, both in Austin and in Washington, D.C., have failed to stand for Texans,”
If Texas could be seized by the democrats in time for the 2016 or even 2020 election it could potentially mean that going into the Presidential Election a candidate would already have 93 electoral votes. 55 votes from California and 38 from Texas.
