New poll: Majority of Americans want Supreme Court to uphold right to abortion

A new report came out from The Pew Research Center yesterday showing that less people favor completely overturning Roe v Wade than ever before. With only 29% of people wanting to over turn it 64% of people feel like this landmark case shouldn't change.

This report also identified that 62% of those who were polled correctly identified Roe v Wade as dealing with abortion and that it hit an all time high of being seen as "not that important compared to other issues" (53%). The idea that abortion may no longer be a lead issue by 2016 will be a sharp difference from the past thirty years of elections.

Age seems to have been the largest factor of ignorance over the bill, with those 18-29 only correctly identifying the case 44% of the time, with all other age groups coming on over 60. The largest demographic who oppose Roe v Wade are white evangelical protestants while Republicans are split 46 - 48. Overall these views, except for importance of the case, are very similar without much change from surveys conducted 10 to 20 years ago.
