The SWAT teams has been called while a spokeswoman for the Lone Star College System as saying it's a "pretty chaotic scene."
Recently Texas legislators have been trying to pass concealed carrying laws for public university (including one last Friday). But it seems to always be veto at the higher level of state government. This is sure to prod this debate, not only in Texas, but country wide.
Lone Star College near Houston, Texas, has been put on lockdown, and so have other schools in the area.
Will update more as more information is available. All of this happened about 30 minutes ago.
update 11:30am: Early reports indicate the shooting may have occurred in the library as well in the cafeteria.
The campus has been placed on lockdown as authorities investigate the case. Lone Star posted an alert message on its website at 12:52 p.m. that the North Harris campus was locked down.
update 1:05pm: Witnesses say a man in a red shirt fired off several shots in a central area of the campus near the library and a cafeteria filled with people studying and eating lunch. Two men were apparently arguing in the area just before the shots went off and both men might have pulled guns.
"All you could hear was like five or six shots and we saw everybody running," said student Jose Del Reyes, who was studying in the library. "People were running and screaming. We tried to get out but nobody would let us out," he said.
"We were just so scared," he said.

- Multiple people have been shot at a north Harris County college, Harris County Precinct 4 deputy constables said.
- Two wounded people have been taken to surgery at Ben Taub Hospital and are in “relatively serious condition,” CNN affiliate KTRK reported. They were conscious when they arrived at the hospital, KTRK reported.
- Three people – one suspected shooter and two people caught in a crossfire – were wounded in a shooting that appears to have been between two people at the Lone Star College campus in Houston, school spokesman Jed Young said.
The wounded suspect is in custody. The second gunman is on the loose, Young said.Authorities believe the school is “under control, but the school still is being evacuated,” Young said.Young said he doesn’t know the conditions of the wounded.
The Chicago Tribune is reporting that one person was in critical condition and two others were taken to hospital with injuries. One suspect is in custody, while another seems to be eluding police so far. This is just one of many shootings at schools in the last month, our thoughts and hearts go out to the victims and their families and hopefully this is the last shooting of its kind.
