A Legend Returns To The Los Angeles Dodgers

Sandy Koufax will return to the LA Dodgers as a special adviser. The Dodger legend is close to rejoining with the dodgers after he spent most of his career there.

Koufax is 77 years old and will work with the team in 2013 as a special adviser to chairman Mark Walter. His duties will include working with pitchers and consulting with the team throughout the season.

You may recall that in 2003 Sandy Koufax was briefly estranged from the Dodgers after a blind article was run by the New York Post. The article made baseless accusations that Koufax was gay and listed that as his stipulation for giving a biographer of his an all-access pass. The accusations were without evidence and later the Post apologized. Koufax stated at the time that he would not be attending any games at Dodger Stadium or any pre-season games in 2003 because of the incident. At the time the Dodgers and the Post were owned by the same entity: Rupert Murdoch's News Corp.

In 12 seasons with the Dodgers Koufax won 165 games (the first three in Brooklyn) three Cy Young's and an MVP and posted a 2.76 ERA. Koufax was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1972.
